Practice Genius exists because the tools built for large institutions never fit a small to medium-sized advisory practice — and the alternative was always a spreadsheet held together by memory.
Before this, I spent ten years on the operational side of financial services — starting in warehouse finance, moving into treasury for the sole distributor of Apple products across sub-Saharan Africa, and eventually running a financial advisory business as Managing Director. That business handled everything: direct share portfolios, fiduciary and trust services, tax and structuring, and the day-to-day work of looking after high-net-worth families.
Two things were always true, no matter how the business grew. The best predictor of future growth was the health of the prospect pipeline — and nobody had a proper way to see it. The best predictor of client retention was whether reviews happened on time — and that lived in someone's diary, not a system.
Practice Genius is the tool I wished existed: something small enough for a practice our size, opinionated enough that a new adviser inherits the process instead of inventing their own, and honest enough to admit when a review is overdue instead of quietly letting it slip.
Every table is isolated by practice, every record is attributed and timestamped. This is client data — it is treated that way.
The workflow is built in. You adjust labels and dates, not the entire process from scratch.
A small to medium-sized team. No IT department, no six-month implementation, no Salesforce administrator.
